She and her team study the health and diseases of older adult volunteers. They track how adults function in their lives over time and, after death, study their brain and organ tissue. Thousands of Arizonans have donated their brain and/or body tissue to the program, which aims to discover new treatments and lifestyle methods to improve the quality of life for older people. “I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved alone to the U.S. after I finished my Ph. D, to pursue my dreams of doing research in renowned research environments,” Dr. Serrano shared. “I was fortunate to join our program in 2010 and quickly found a second family in our laboratory.”

Team Member Spotlight: David Mash, RPSGT, CRT, BS, Polysomnographic Technologist at Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. My Banner journey began about 18 years ago. Throughout my time at Banner North Colorado Medical Center, I have held a handful of job titles: Respiratory Therapist, Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (Night Sleep Tech), CPAP Clinic Coordinator, and I am currently the day tech for the Banner Sleep Lab. I enjoy working at Banner because of the great work-life balance they provide. I also appreciate the additional wellness benefits such as access to the employee gym and HSA. I am fortunate to live close to NCMC, allowing me to walk, ride my bike, and even ski into work on really snowy days. Over the years, I've been fortunate to work with fun and caring colleagues who prioritize patient care and understand the importance of teamwork. I feel valued by both my team and management, as they seek my input in department decisions. My wife also works for Banner, and as long-time Greeley residents, we appreciate Banner's involvement in the community.
