Aprille joined Memorial Hermann more than 20 years ago after the support and guidance she received during clinical rotations as a nursing student, which positively impacted her as a nurse and a leader. She worked caring for patients at multiple Memorial Hermann locations before transitioning into leadership to focus on improving the quality of care. "As a frontline nurse, I was always interested in the 'why' behind the processes, guidelines and policies we follow," she says. "I saw opportunities to improve the care we provided and wanted to be a part of the evolution of nursing practice." Now, as Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, she drives decisions to improve patient and health care professionals' safety and care. As part of the Emerging Professionals Employee Resource Group, Aprille uses her knowledge and experience to support other professionals just as her mentors did for her. Now she supports other health care professionals at Memorial Hermann through networking, leadership and collaboration. "I feel we must nurture the next generation by providing guidance, mentorship, and growth opportunities to help develop the skills and confidence needed to take on future leadership roles."
