This week we officially open our doors to families at N Leatherhead. Step inside the nursery, and you will find an impressive, double-height vaulted reception area where families can drop off and then relax in the N cafe. Double doors lead out onto a spacious garden for toddlers and preschoolers, complete with sun sails and a rubber-crumbed race track for tricycles and scooters. To the side, an enclosed green space offers babies direct garden access from their playroom. Step back through the reception area and discover more playrooms equipped with reading corners and workstations for playing host to our N curriculum, indoor sandpits for sensory play, and even dedicated areas to try yoga - just one of the many N Extras that we offer. Upstairs, the real star of the show can be found - the light-drenched atelier. Floor-to-ceiling tiles wrap around the studio, providing the perfect environment for unleashing creativity through messy art, cooking, baking, and crafts. Our spacious parent area is an inviting space for families to refuel, and there is bike and scooter storage for those travelling locally. Our nursery locations are designed to be beautiful, light-filled, inspiring spaces with a welcoming, homely feel. Natural light and materials are key to creating a comfortable, functional, and safe environment, with a carefully selected colour palette to achieve a calming presence for our families and team. Our large, open playroom and garden spaces offer flexibility for varied activities during the nursery day and allow for group activities to encourage children to build social skills. Our talented in-house architects are sympathetic to the buildings our nurseries are built within and strive to celebrate the history, original features, and character of each site. We love the challenge of giving properties a new lease of life—some of our most interesting projects have involved complex renovations of Grade II listed properties (with some planning hurdles along the way)! These include a former police station, a palatial boathouse, and a postal sorting office—all of which have been retrofitted to the highest standard to achieve our unique N Family Club look and feel. I've loved cooking since childhood, which funded my education and led to a hospitality career in pubs, hotels, and restaurants. After becoming a father, I sought a better work-life balance and joined a small nursery as a chef. I instantly loved it. After 20+ years in early years, I now lead food operations at N Family Club, providing nutritious meals that support children's growth and well-being. ⭐ What do you wish more chefs knew about early years? Chefs have a unique opportunity to shape children's health by introducing fresh, nutritious foods early on. It's more than just meals—it's about building lifelong healthy habits. Early years settings also offer better work-life balance than traditional hospitality, giving you more creativity and focus on food safety. ⭐ What do you enjoy most about working at N?
