Feliz aniversário!🎉 Did you know that bp has now been operating in Portgual for 95 years?!?! To celebrate the occasion our colleagues in Portugal enjoyed several activities to mark the special day including a warm welcome from an excellent violinist, lunch at Ajuda’s Botanical Garden, an innovative “escape room in the room” challenge and more! 😊 Obrigado to our Portugal team for their incredible work, wishing you many more years of success and joy! 👏
Meet Demarco, an early careers graduate at bp in South Africa.👋 Since joining two years ago as a marketing & retail management graduate, Demarco is now category lead for food services in the Wild Bean Café. Demarco has a degree in development studies, focused on sustainable development and reduction of carbon emissions. It was bp’s net-zero ambitions that attracted him to the company. Demarco says he has picked up many skills due to the various roles and responsibilities he’s had. “In my first week I learned about the full on-site business,” he says. “That included working at the petrol pumps, in the Wild Bean Café, in the back office and as a cashier. I also went for barista training!” So what advice would Demarco have for anyone planning to join bp? “Be open to learn. A lot of individuals are willing to give advice or their time to chat.” Demarco believes bp is a great place to work and thinks students and recent grads would really appreciate “the workplace culture”. Meet Sakhe, an early careers graduate and HR generalist at bp in South Africa. 👋 In her own words, she has been with bp for exactly “three years, nine months and 23 days.” 😉 Sakhe was drawn to bp due to its size and scale. “I felt the early careers program could assist me in gaining the skills and exposure to be a great HR professional,” she says. “I was also attracted to the values and company culture.” 💛💚 Why should graduates consider bp? “The business promotes care for others, and I believe most people want to be in that kind of environment,” she says. 🙏
Our support for trans people goes beyond #TransAwarenessWeek but it does provide a moment to recognise the work of our #Pride network, who volunteer their time to improve the experiences of our LGBTQ+ people. Their contributions are invaluable - some highlights: 🚀 A pilot talent attraction campaign targeted towards trans people in Spain. 🗒️ A guidance document for employees and line managers on trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming inclusion. 💝 'Safe Space' workshops - providing information and resources for allies on how to support LGBTQ+ colleagues. Well done #bpPride - we're lucky to have you all as part of our team! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈💚 #IStandWithTrans
