      Summer Analyst Interview

      16 Feb 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs (New York, NY) in Feb 2013

      Interview

I first applied online, I found the job listing through my school's career center. I was selected for a super-day interview. I requested a reschedule, but couldn't get one because they were interviewing multiple candidates all in that one day. So I just missed out on a single class. The super-day began at 8:00AM at their NY HQ. Schedules were handed out, some people met with multiple teams but I only was to meet with the Tech Infrastructure team. This was at their New Jersey location, so we were ferried over there. Each interview bloc with a team consisted of three interviews 30 minutes each, back to back. The first is with a regular on the team, the second is with a relatively new employee, and the third is a 2:1 with higher-level employees/managers. The first two are technical and the last is more behavioral. You tend to repeat some introductions with each interview, but the interviewers are very relaxed and understanding. They offer technical questions based on what you tell them you have learned. You will get a response sometime a week after the super-day via email.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

Given two arrays A and B, find the difference and intersection of the two.

      Question 2

How do you check if a Linked List has a recurring loop?

      Question 3

Given an array with only binary numbers, ex. 110110101, sort it in better than NlogN. You have two integers or pointers, and that is all that's allowed for space complexity.

      Interview

Initial resume drop, then a call with a recruiter, then one-way interview (mine was HireVue), finally ended with a SuperDay (ie three back to back interviews ranging 30-45 mins each I think. Questions were primarily behavioral and the interviewers wanted to hear the questions candidates prepared for them.

      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Goldman Sachs (Bengaluru)

      Interview

Preference of software/quant was asked in the test. In the test there is a behavioural section, if you answer that properly you will get an interview. There was a panel of 3-4 members in the software team, usually you got your interview in 2 panels (for two rounds of the same difficulty)

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They ask basic arrays, and linked list questions in DSA. Other than that they discussed my projects, there was not really much else in the interview for both the rounds. If you have a good introduction about yourself prepared, are knowledgeable about your projects and know basic DSA, you can get hired.
