I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern in Jan 2013
Interview
After receiving my application, they forwarded me a link to an assessment test consisting of old SAT-style questions. They were difficult, and I know I missed several. Nevertheless, I was asked to a phone interview. Everything went extremely well, and although I would've enjoyed the actual work, I came out with the perception that NS was focused highly on employee loyalty, something that, as an intern who is still evaluating where I want to be next year (much less five years down the road), I saw as a major issue.

I had 1 Interview for the role with the Director of Talent Acquisition & the Sr. Talent Acquisition Manager. The process was very straightforward with typical questions that anyone can shine.

They sat me down in a university convention center. They described the job and they were very polite with their question asking. They were also straightforward about hiring in search of full time candidates.

Interview
Classic behavioral questions and nothing too technical. One on one interview with hiring manager was fairly easy as well. Interview process for interns is easier than what I expected, nothing meant to stump or trick candidates.
