How is management perceived at FedEx?

      FedEx reviews

      Delivery

      Delivery driver
      Current employee
      Idaho Falls, ID
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Weekly pay, very flexible, good management.

      Cons

Super long days. Unsure when you’ll be done. Can be high stress

      1

Stay for co-workers, leave due to management

      Ramp transport driver/tractor trailer
      Current employee

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

-Up beat and active workplace with a lot of variety in responsibilities. -Can make a lot of great friends with the type of physical work you’ll be doing. -Tons of upward/horizontal mobility, almost everyone in the company is hired from within. -The type of job you can take pride in doing.

      Cons

-Management consistently make awful decisions. -Your concerns aren’t ever heard or taken seriously, even concerns brought up by employees of FORTY years within workplace meetings. -Hard work/life balance for people with children due to the hours work is done (this is more about working at airports than hubs or service stations; airport hours are either very late or very early). -You almost certainly WILL need to start as a package/material handler to get jobs that pay more, and it will take years before you are full-time. -The pay compared to UPS is a complete, total, joke and management WILL string you along telling you about raises and by the time October (raise time) comes around you will get an email saying how poorly the company is doing and explaining why they can’t give you a raise even though UPS truck drivers CURRENTLY make double what you make. -Upper management only cares about paying themselves and pilots.

Eradicating culture of sustainable development and long term employees

      Digital product manager
      Former employee
      Memphis, TN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Benefits including 401K match, Discounted Flights and culture was good until 2022.

      Cons

FedEx has had a good culture until recently since middle management is highly focused on their undergrad level like startup ideas which cause huge losses and no real revenue. Ultimately to get their quarterly bonuses, they eliminate older employees to justify cost savings. FedEx is in a vicious cycle trying to fill jobs with younger people who have no sustainable software development mindset. The outsiders are highly focused on eroding FedEx's long standing foundation and just trying to loot a strong financial company and move on to their jobs with a fake resume of saving costs.

      Very mixed feelings

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Starting pay is good, management and supervisors are understanding, and able to meet a lot of new people

      Cons

Hours are a pretty low, even as full-time, work can get pretty heavy, even with help from others

      Mgmt OK, job unsafe

      Business outlook

      Pros

Good work life balance because I didn’t care about this job. Pay was good, but peak season was brutal despite the pay. Schedule worked with my life commitments.

      Cons

Unsafe work environment. Faulty equipment, no repairs made despite grievances voiced, lack of access to water all year but more troublesome in summer heat, managers make you waive breaks, managers sexually inappropriate with subordinates, drug and alcohol use on-site by employees and managers.

Decent benefits but poor management and unpredictable hours

      Business outlook

      Pros

Benefits are decent for company and 401k match

      Cons

Hours are random could have 30 or 60 depends on managers, no time off options when sick day and flex day are out, managers are the worst

      Pros

Great company benefits, good pay, worked with some awesome managers and co workers.

      Cons

This was a physically demanding job starting out as a package handler and doing unload when not switching .

      Hit or miss

      Former employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

Health benefits are fantastic. Low monthly deductible for me and my three kids with good coverage. Fairly generous PTO plan. Ease of use depends on manager and role.

      Cons

Pay is low for the work required and the expectations of managers. If in a direct sales role such as ESC, you receive no commission only a bonus that relies on your coworkers and their locations to meet their goals as well. You could be at 120% of your plan, but if your coworker is only at 70% of their plan, you lose out on your bonus. Management can be awful. I worked from a store consultant to lead consultant to assistant manager finally to ESC. Overall experience completely depends on direct manager and their boss. Some managers were helpful and encouraging while others made demands while sitting in their office not lifting a finger. Constantly changing expectations that were often not clearly defined or explained to the employee. When asked for clarification on expectations, not much would come from management and above, but they were always quick to let you know when you weren't meeting their poorly defined expectations. Management plays favorites and often doesn't try to hide it. You'll get chewed out for a simple error, but another employee making the same mistake will have it ignored as if it doesn't matter. Difficult to move up once you hit a certain level.

      Package handler
      Current employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Quick pay checks, availability, easy to get hired, you get strong, no micro management

      Cons

Physically draining, hot/cold, managers expect you to be a machine, inconsistent workload

      Good Job, Bad Culture

      Ft courier
      Current employee
      Evansville, IN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

A fairly easy job, once you learn it. Once you’re on road, it’s self-paced. As long as everything is delivered on time and efficiently, you get to decide how to run your route.

      Cons

Uncompetitive pay and benefits(for the current economy), poor training, lack of communication, and a terrible management culture round out my complaints. The company values profit over everything.
