The pay as a Driver is too low

      Non-cdl delivery driver
      Current employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

The work is steady and as long as you dont mind trading out ALL OF YOUR HOME LIFE for pay then its perfect for you as youll be working 10 to 12hrs Delivering each day.

      Cons

The pay doesn't change based on how many hours you work as a Driver you still only get the $150 but thats minus TAXES and GAS TO GET TO WORK AS WELL AS DAILY LUNCH MONEY because you'll live on GAS STATION FOOD since theres no time to sit and eat lunch you'll take your lunch breaks by eating on the way from one Stop to the next one to save time. Every mistake will cost you time and you will eventually get hurt somehow as you are to load and unload ALL equipment and Packages as a ONE MAN TEAM even when the boxes clearly say 2 or 3 MEN LIFT & CARRY ONLY!!! You are on your own with DOG ATTACKS. I literally had to stop at a Walmart to buy new boots after a dog chased me into the back of the truck and chewed up the bottom off of one of my Work Boots. Im already a disabled ARMY Veteran so I didnt want to complain too much. The trucks break down and you have to pay with your own time and NO ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION AT ALL even if you you finish 4 to 6 hours later than usual because you have to stay out until you Finish Delivering Your ENTIRE Load For The Day!!! You don't get much sleep each night either as its always seemingly time to head back to FedEx even once you get used to it. There's a high turnover rate because of this and you just work work work until finally you make it to that 1 day off. You also get RANDOM schedule changes due to weather changes whereas the Owners will call a day off due to snowing or something IF ITS TOO THICK but then they'll also TAKE AWAY your Scheduled OFF DAY for that week NEVERMINDING YOUR FAMILY PLANS AND FUNERALS ETC. SOME DAYS YOU COME IN TO WORK AND GET SENT BACK HOME BECAUSE THEY HAD TOO MANY DRIVERS COME IN THAT DAY SO.THEY JUST KEEP WHOEVER CAME IN THE EARLIEST THAT DAY EVEN IF YOUVE ALREADY PAID FOR DAYCARE FOR THE KID(S) AND DROPPED THEM OFF ON THEvWAY TO WORK.

      Pros

good benefits and pay for part time

      Cons

the shift times and hard work

If you're still figuring things out, it's not a bad gig

      Business outlook

      Pros

Health benefits and 401k plan for both full and part time drivers, get your own gas card (company vehicles only), take your lunch at any time (not in your first or last hour of your shift), work by yourself, drivers are helpful if you're a team player.

      Cons

Very little room for growth, corporate can be out of touch, job can feel repetitive, waiting for late incoming package freight in the morning.

      Pros

Well if you want a paid early morning workout and I mean 4:00AM early , this is the place for you if your needing 3 hours or so of work before school.

      Cons

Cons? 4am start means up by 3:20am or so .

      Pros

Honestly I had a good time doing contract work for them. They paid on time, management was super friendly and I got to choose my own hours.

      Cons

Alot of time on the road, you use your own car and pay for your own gas.

      Pros

good benefits good schedule good coworkers good insurance good gas reimbursement

      Cons

tiring driving alll day. Deal with mean customers when receiving packages.

Your enjoyment here is heavily route-dependent, but overall still not worth it.

      Delivery driver
      Current employee
      Omaha, NE
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

IF you are lucky enough to get a small route, you can work about 4hrs a day and still get a daily base pay (if your contractor offers a day rate)

      Cons

No benefits, no union protection, 1 week PTO/sick days and that's it, no retirement, and not enough of a weekly paycheck to actually save money for your own retirement in a meaningful way. This is a GIG job for very temporary young drivers who just need fast money. I've worked here 5 years and while I've enjoyed running my routes to maximize my day pay value, my body is catching up to all the strain that causes over time. And I am left without any options to pay for that, except out of my own pocket, because frankly the pay here is so bad, that you can't even afford to pay for private health insurance. If you can, it's because you are living very frugally in other areas, such as having a POS vehicle, or living in a slum apartment.
