What is the hiring process like at Sunrun?

      Sunrun reviews

      Good Company

      Permitting coordinator
      Current employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good benefits, flexibility, active employee resource groups

      Cons

looming risk of layoffs, upper management not trusting the SMEs and constantly changing workflow process therefore hindering employee efficiency, nepotism (employees not being affected by layoffs because they are friends or family of the manager. employee metrics and KPIs are not taken into account in these situations and creates a burden on other employees)

Inconsistent Pay Below State Minimum. Carrot Dangling.

      Field sales consultant - fsc
      Former employee
      Peoria, IL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Gas Card for those long road trips.

      Cons

Base pay/ Salary is below State limit. Right now it is at $20,000 year and in many cases THAT is what you will end with unless you stick it out. As a sales rep you are punished for situations out of your control. You can do everything asked of you as outline in the work agreement you sign, and still the bulk of your pay can be held up for months with little to no communication. If you come work here, you expect if you get a sale you will be paid for the sale. Not here, if you happen to get a $4k deal along with CAP you may get $1000, however if for some reason you are terminated or quit due to lack of future sells, kiss that other $3k goodbye as your manager gets that now. Management, especially upper management make decisions such as adding taddlers in company vehicles where if you dont add the system you are threatened to be written up even though they dont have it professionally installed. Then turn around a few weeks later to decide to get rid of company cars all together and force you to update your current car to meet standards that weren't agreed upon during the hiring process or be terminated and forfeit commissions. HR does not respond to simple request in a timely manner.

      Don’t do it!

      Appointment setter
      Former employee
      San Diego, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The first few weeks of training and working from home was the only good part. I also loved my trainer and my boss but that’s it sadly.

      Cons

Micromanaging, horrible policies, metrics, benefits, no quota relief, good leads are giving to their favorite people and can continue going. Also, you will get let go even if you are a new hire.

      3

High Pressure; Dishonest about earning potential

      Retail sales associate
      Former employee
      Ventura, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Generous with overtime, no problems with payroll. Not micromanaged while working.

      Cons

Two zoom meetings a day, high pressure, the manager was firing people right and left. Lied about current income potential when hiring new associates.

      1

      Hard workers only

      Sales
      Current employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Hard work, but rewarding, work hard

      Cons

Burnout is a thing, rotation of new people are constant

      BEWARE WOMEN

      Sales representative
      Former employee
      San Luis Obispo, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      The promises before the abuse.

      Cons

BEWARE WOMEN. I had a very traumatic experience as a women who was hired by this company. I worked for the San luis obispo office for a matter of weeks and was discriminated against based on my race and subjected to isolation and harassment with my manager at the time requiring me to spend hours with him alone in his home. What you're signing when you join keeps you from being able to ever fully speak up about abuse within the company. UPDATE: Over one year later and still have not lawfully given me my employee file upon several requests or responded to me.

Lots of lead stealing going on.

      Sales
      Current employee
      Lehi, UT
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

None. Absolutely none whatsoever. Terrible leads sent by total morons who are incentivized for amounts of leads send and not quality of the actual lead, which is always a bad idea. I have had several leads blatantly stolen from me just within the last couple of weeks and when I say something to management, their response is basically 'oh well, sucks to be you, that is how our process works'. I have never worked for a more frustrating organization in my life. The software absolutely sucks, gets stuck on you in the middle of your sale regularly and fails to load designs almost daily. This job is absolutely horrible and I will actually be leaving to pursue other ventures starting next month.

      Cons

Project managers dragging their feet every step of the way, bad software, terrible leads and a dying industry.

      High Turnover

      Sales athelete
      Former contractor
      Hicksville, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Role is purely commission based but structure is okay to be honest. You get paid out in different steps along the sales process to when it first sits, client signs, and install being the biggest contributor to your commission for a project.

      Cons

The time it takes for certain projects to go through, and how I wasn't paid on a couple of them.

      Great Opportunities

      Anonymous contractor
      Former contractor
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Howeer, the entrance process is rigorous, which is ncessary to succeed!

      Cons

But again, it does take substantial time for the opportunities to pay back and more. Hence, all-around finanacial stability is a challange constantly.
