The remitted tuition is perfect for families with dependents, and the match from your salary is great too.
Cons
You just have to suffer with a low salary while you know you are contributing to your family with your benefits. You just have to remain committed for a few years to feel like everything is "paying off"
-Very nice salary when compared to other RD roles in universities/colleges within the area
-personable student living staff
-located in an urban area with things to do
-has development opportunities within the role (conference attending and presenting, trainings)
-ability to work towards promotion towards other roles in their student living department
-Decent benefits and insurance plans
Cons
-Underperforming staff is not held accountable
-Some individuals contribute to drama/stress within the work environment
-This role is very time consuming, and you're regularly asked to do job-related tasks outside of typical working hours
Good pay. Flexible work. Unsure of the future of this flexibility however. There has been a lot of talk about returning to the office full time.
Cons
Inexperienced R1 leadership. Tuition dependent without a diversified source of income from research or fundraising. Investment income is very low vs our peers. Feels precarious when budgets are discussed in meetings.
