First, I got an email for a videocall proposal. 30min with HR, 30min with VP of Marketing (they have Marketing and Design under the same umbrella).
HR: I didn't feel the CHO was very professional for such a position. She was improvising quite a bit, but I have to say the chat was pleasant.
VP: Our chat was a blast. He showed me quite clearly what he looked for the company, for the department, and for the position itself. It seems there was a match.
After positive feedback, I had another chat with a Senior Creative Manager. Another pleasant videocall, again the feeling of being a match. She told me I would get news very soon since they wanted to hire someone ASAP. Probably to say yes/no, or to send me an assignment.
I got back to them in a week. It seems they sent me an email with the assignment the day after the last videocall, but I never received it. I managed to get the details via WhatsApp. I had 72h to deliver the task. I started working on it but 24h later I received another WhatsApp from the CHO saying that it wasn't necessary to perform the task. They wanted to proceed with another candidate.
That is totally fine, probably that person was a better fit for the company. But I don't think the situation was any different 24h before, so I feel silly that I still had hope when they re-sent me the task. I didn't find that situation very professional. Especially when I felt super connected with the two direct superiors I would have in case of working for the company.
