I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at APSC (Sydney)
Interview
The interview process was impersonal, they only used online tools, meaning that they had no idea about me at all. I passed all the tests, but I reached out to them because one of them was extremely hard (answering maths questions and finding a moving bubble which represents the answer before it disappears in 2-3 seconds), so I advised them that I am neurodivergent but also that it seems too fast for anyone, but I didn't get a response. Then there was a video interview, where we were required to film the answer to questions. As a disabled person with autism I found this extremely hard and confronting because it wasn't a natural social situation so I had no exposure to anything like it. It was really really hard even though the questions were easy to answer. I ended up getting offered to go on the merit list for a lower APS level than I am already in, and they mentioned the video interview when they told me they are refusing to review it.
I honestly found the process pretty dehumanising, it made me feel like just a number when I have so much to offer, this program seems amazing for disabled people like me but the interview process practically disqualifies us.
