I was invited for an onsite interview where I was asked about very specific details that an experienced engineer can easily look up online in seconds. It felt like I was expected to know by heart the exact names of certain instructions and commands they’ve been using for the past 20 years. There were only a few questions about really important topics like technologies, pipelines, architecture, code design, and code quality, all of which I answered without any problem. At the end, I was asked to multiply 47 by 32 - a task that felt rather demeaning in the context of a technical interview. And they never communicated the outcome.
