I applied online. I interviewed at Agoda (Bangkok) in June 2023
Interview
Had to first complete an online assessment that tested personality, mathematical/coding intelligence, and SQL skills. They claimed it should take about an hour but this was impossible and it took more like 2.5 hours (timed test, so it's not like I just took extra long). Next was scheduled an in-person interview. The position was in Bangkok (which was noted on the job ad) so the interview was very late at night for me. Not really an issue, because as I said they had noted the location in the description. Interviewer was polite but was clearly being held to some number of interviews they had to do in a day, and so was a bit hurried. I find the last bit strange. At the end of the interview, salary was brought up. I indicated my past salary and current offers, and the interviewer then told me that the top salary for the position was MUCH lower (think 1/4-1/3 of what I've already earned). They pointed out that the position was in Bangkok and that cost of living was much lower. All of that is strange to me because the job ad for this position was posted in the major metropolitan city that I live in, one of the most expensive in the country. The pay was claimed to be competitive. If a job ad is being purposely posted in such a location and claiming competitive pay, then applicants will naturally assume that this means it will be near salaries in their area, or at least competitive with remote salaries. Therefore I found the salary part of the whole process to be misleading, perhaps purposely so. I wouldn't have been annoyed, except for the ~2.5 hour assessment that I had to take to get to my late night interview. What a strange idea. Post online ads in metropolitan areas, demand only high performers on some assessment to be interviewed, then offer painfully low salaries. I can't imagine that pipeline goes particularly well for them.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Agoda (Budapest) in Oct 2025
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn to schedule an interview. After filling out the application form she requested, I received an automated rejection email. I asked what is going on and they told me the interview is cancelled, without any reasoning. Why reach out then?
Screening call with TA recruiter.
1 hour with a product leader - 30 mins competency based questions. 30 mins on the spot case study questions - a situation is presented and then questions asked about how you would look to solve a specified product problem - what hypotheses do you have, how you can test it and using what data.
