I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Airbnb (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2018
Interview
Interviewed with Airbnb earlier this year. 1 phone interview + 7 onsite and it took about 2 months overall. It's not significantly different from other tech companies but what I really don't like:
- Either during phone interview or on-site interview, there was very few interaction with the interviewer. They just suppose you should come up with the solution and write perfect code, no matter what. Yet the interview questions themselves are sometimes not interesting at all.
- There are two special "culture fit" rounds. Nothing surprising but they had their own cultural problem (a few months back, in China). Based on my interaction with some of the interviewers, the experience was definitely not that enjoyable.
- The tech challenges at Airbnb are not interesting if you're looking for hard problems to solve.
Pretty standard engineering interview. Recruiter call, technical interview, system design. They also had a code review interview that I had never seen before. I thought it was a little trickier than average, but not horrible. Sucks that if you don't move to the next round you can't reapply for a year.
