      Flight Attendant Interview

      15 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at American Airlines

      Interview

AA's reputation and my personal and business experiences attracted me to apply for the inflight position but I find the hiring practice integrity subject after this my second interview. Interviewers made a very big point to say that they know candidates hear that if you didn't get an offer that day, you would not receive one. It was stated that AA had changed their hiring process and immensely respect our time, travel efforts and interest in their airline. It was a long 19 hour day. A big point was made to say they were NOT making offers today-that they needed to confer as a team and we would hear in a few days. The interviewing team seemed a bit disorganized and appeared to have some communication misses with each other during the course of the day. After saying no decisions were to be made this day, some candidates were still retained for fingerprinting and reach test. hmmmm...prerequisites to an offer if not literally an offer. It's semantics. Fingerprints and reach test are preludes to an offer. So if candidates go home happy and hopeful, how are they going to meet this criteria remotely? Fingerprints can be done remotely but is the reach test not a deal breaker then? No changes in the hiring process as far as I could tell-This is the very same way they conducted the interviews last year. One by one each candidate is divided from group and escorted out under the guise of validating contact information and admonished to check email and spam...don't want to miss notice! And NTY emails were sent shortly thereafter. Advice for AA...you are attracting competent, educated, professional and experienced people -please don't insult our intelligence. We are and have been your passengers for years of business and personal travel. We know the service and safety needs and desires of passengers. And we are willing to work for low wages and crazy hours-so please don't disrespect us by telling us that you are each there to foster our success. Why employ seemingly deceptive modes of candidate review? Isn't the intent to connect with candidates as individuals to explore how their professional experience can convey into your Customer service model? Remember...you were selected too and are also subject to review and scrutiny. We have choices. AA is a stellar airline. A more professional and respectful manner of handling: Just thank us for our time-TELL US that you are not selecting us this round and encourage us to try again. Be honest and forthright. The competition is evident but please don't treat us like we are idiots. It's insulting. An act of omission is the worst kind of lie. I wanted to provide my honest feedback and perhaps help manage expectations for all the hopeful talented people who are left wondering after their review. AA is the number one airline in the world but I am a bit lackluster now after being so enthusiastic about being a part of the AA team. As anticipated, I received the NTY email four business days after this interview.
