      Portuguese Speaker Flight Attendant Interview

      25 May 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at American Airlines in Jan 2014

      Interview

After I filled in the online application it took me around 4 weeks to hear back from AA. After the video interview, another 2 weeks or so to hear back from them. I went to Dallas for the face to face interview and due to weather conditions my group was very small comparing to what I've read here (30 people only). The recruiters introduced themselves, then we split in groups of 5 and did the ice beaker. I volunteered to speak for my groups and then passed the chance so others could do the same. After that we were sent in groups of 3 to a more personal interview with two recruiters. That went well too. After all the groups we're done, they showed us a video about the company. After that they took some of us to sign a paper in which you attest that all your information is true and reliable. Now here things start to warm up: They took some of us to perform a test which consisted in reaching a fire extinguisher located inside a overhead compartment. Following to the test, the ones that had made it so far were taken for fingerprinting and then, another interview. This time just myself and a recruiter. I took the opportunity to actually bond with my recruiter, leave a good impression so that he would remember who I was by the end of the day. That worked out pretty well. 24 hours after I've finished the face to face interview I received the email invitation for the medical and drug test. 5 days later, I was offered the position. Now I'm waiting to know when my training will start. It was a very good and pleasant experience, no need to feel nervous at all. Just be yourself, be friendly, show them that you're a approachable person, smile, smile, smile. When answering questions, take some time to make eye contact with everybody. Including the other applicants. Find a balance between showing yourself off to the recruiters, without being to cocky or ignoring the people applying with you. When someone is talking, pay attention to them, look at them. Make sure you show you're a good listener and a good team worker. I saw some people here saying that they don't care if you're not well groomed, that they want people easy to be brain washed. That is not true. Dress conservative, sell your image and your personality. Dress as if the job is already yours. I hope this can help future applicants and I wish you all the best of luck.

      Interview

Made app on a Sunday, got a call on Monday, next day. Received instructions for phone interview. Received email telling me unfortunately... then received another call/email saying they made a mistake and if i still want to interviews face to face in Dallas. Yes. The face to face interview was with about fifty(?) very tense people. For some reason i had a feeling that something was wrong with my applications. neither one of the two interview people would look me in the eye witch made me very uneasy with the feeling that i was already fired! Lol!

      Question 1

The group task was very competitive at the table, it was supposed to be a test about working together as a group but two of them just highjack the tasks. From the start it went wrong, me and the guy sitting across me reached for the paper and were told very loud to LISTEN!!! Treat us like first grade students. I just knew it was over for us, this dude seemed not like us at all! After tasks done we moved in groups of five to another room, and most of us just bombed the interview. Back to the room after watching a movie with all the benefits we would be missing if not hired (cruel) our names were called one by one and escorted out of the building. Outside we just talked among us and realized we did not get the position. One of the girls was about to cry. We could not help to feel inadequate and as for me the experience was awful. They told us they would give the answer in two weeks and it was just a lie, the people hired stayed the four hours for the interview and not two hours like us. the very next day i received the email... unfortunately... it was just awful! I had invested a lot time and even money and was greatly disappointed with the entire process.
