Manager (Not Really But That's What I Was Told) Interview

      6 Aug 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Charlotte, NC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at American Income Life (Charlotte, NC) in July 2013

      Interview

Pure cattle call. I was contacted directly by someone employed by the agency and invited to an interview under the pretense of it being an interview for an operations/personnel manager position as the branch was moving and expanding and needed help during this process and beyond. I arrived for my interview to find rooms (reception area, conference rooms, pretty much every available space) of applicants (I estimate the number to have been about 100), all waiting for the same thing - a presentation to sell you on the money-making opportunity available by working for this agency. I will admit this, the presentation by Mr. Jenkins was top notch. It was very organized and verbally represented. He is a personable guy, at least in this well rehearsed setting. Overall, the interview process seems to be very similar to their sales process - all about probability & statistics. 1st, get as many people into the presentation as possible; 2nd, ensure they can interact with other humans without a volatile reaction; 3rd, tell the applicant the process for making money for themselves (& subsequently, the agency); 4th, for anyone who hasn't made an obvious negative impact, and who has returned their questionnaire - invite them back for a 1:1; 5th, when they show for the 1:1, get a yes and schedule them to start selling.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There were no questions at this stage of the process except to ask if you were motivated by money and were willing to dedicate the time & effort to earn it.
