      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Income Life (Pelham, AL) in July 2013

      Interview

Went in for the "interview" where the head of the branch gave a presentation selling the company to me and about 15 other people. Very inspirational stuff... The words "once in a lifetime opportunity" were being thrown around like beads at Mardi Gras. I went in for the real interview the next day where the guy immediately asked if I had any questions.. I'm like "who's giving the interview here?" Anyway, I ask my questions, meanwhile his gaze is so intense and unflinching that I'm starting to feel extremely uncomfortable. Then he asks me a couple questions like "why should I hire you?" and this guy is making me so nervous that I completely bomb this interview. Anyway, he offered me the job and the only thing missing was confetti being shot out of the ceiling - 3 different people came in, shook my hand and told me with a big fake smile, "Congratulations!" I'm stunned that I got the job at this point and really feel like something weird is going on. Long story short, I google this company (which is what I should have done before even wasting my time with them) and find out it's a pyramid scheme. They don't care who they hire, they just want as many people working for them as possible so make as much money as they can. I'll spare you the details, just google it and you'll see. The entire experience left me feeling discouraged and with little faith in humanity... But I've got an interview with a legitimate company in 2 days so all is forgiven. What I learned out of all this - DON'T LOOK FOR JOBS ON CRAIG'S LIST!!

Only a couple questions and they were as generic as they come.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Income Life in June 2022

      Interview

They talk more than you do and they take all of your questions in the beginning of the interview and wait until the end to answer them. This isn't really an interview but more of a sales pitch. They are trying to sell you on joining their pyramid model. They want you to become a "manager in training" meaning every sale you make, your manager gets a cut of.. then when you become a manager you have to recruit more people to sell under you. It's ridiculous that they treat this like an interview. They don't care who you are, they just want you to sell so they can make money off of you. The job is also 100% commission, they don't offer base salaries.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What did you like about your last job? What questions do you have? Tell me about yourself Questions about how much money you need to make to pay your bills - so they can try to sell you that you can make that much money

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at American Income Life (Omaha, NE) in Aug 2020

      Interview

Not at all what I thought the job was. They purposefully hide what the job is until you get there... it’s quite ridiculous and unprofessional. It’s insurance sales... the company tries to market towards people looking for customer service or management positions.

      Manager In Training Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life (Arlington Heights, IL) in Feb 2019

      Interview

A three-step interview. Had a quick one-on-one, followed by a group interview, followed by another one-on-one. They don't really explain what you do until the last interview. I didn't find out it was a commission only job till the last interview. During the group interview they do an overview of everything and make the job sound amazing due to the money, but it's just another door-to-door sales job at the end of the day. If you're not into sales, don't bother with this company.

Tell me a time when you had to deal with a problem at work.
