I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Amgen (Thousand Oaks, CA) in Dec 2009
Interview
First was a phone screen by HR followed by a scheduled full day interview at the head quarters in Thousand Oaks. This is unusual now since most hiring is done at the SF site for SF workers but some people may still need to travel to S. CA to interview. I was scheduled all day from 8-5 and over lunch so I barely ate anything. Definitely ask to see the labs, with any lab job this is one of the most important interview questions. We currently would never hire anyone for a lab job that doesn't have any interest in seeing the labs during the interview.

Question 1
I was asked to define pKa and give an example of the pKa of an acid. It was very straight forward.
It was very smooth and everyone was cooperative. The recruiter was very helpful and responsive. Overall it was a very educative experience and I really appreciate the opportunity offered by them.
