Interview
The process took more than 3 months in total - longer if you count the 4-6 weeks of delay before they responded to my initial application. The process relied heavily on automated online assessments which usually didn't come with good enough documentation to get them right first time, e.g. no email address given to return the completed test to or incorrect instructions about saving a task to return to it later. I found this somewhat ironic given the role I was interviewing for.
It is also difficult if not impossible to actually speak to the recruitment team, which is not a positive when the automated portions of the process do not go according to plan!

Interview
The interview process at Arm was thorough and well-organized, reflecting the company's commitment to finding the best candidates.
Application: The process began with an online application where I submitted my CV for the Graduate Information Developer position.
HireVue Online Assessment: A while after applying, I received an email invitation to complete an on-demand video interview through HireVue. The assessment included two main parts:
1. Video Interview: This was a one-way interview where I had to record my responses to a series of pre-recorded questions. Arm provided two practice questions to help me get comfortable with the platform. The flexibility to complete the interview at my convenience within a seven-day window was a major plus. I appreciated the option to re-record some of my answers, which allowed me to present my best self.
2. Written Task: I was also asked to complete a written task. This involved writing a technical description on a variety of technologies, adhering to Arm's corporate style guidelines. The task was designed to assess my technical writing skills and my ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
Final Interview: After successfully completing the HireVue assessment, I was invited to a final interview stage, which consisted of two parts:
1. Technical Interview (1 hour): This part focused on my technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. I was asked to solve technical problems related to the role and explain my thought process. The interviewers were thorough and asked insightful questions to gauge my understanding of the subject matter.
2. Team Panel Interview with ATG (1 hour): This was a panel interview with members of the Architecture Technology Group (ATG). The focus was on understanding how I would fit into the team, my collaborative skills and how I approach real-world problems. The panel members were friendly and asked questions about my past experiences, how I handle challenges, and my knowledge of Arm's technologies.
Feedback and Follow-Up: Throughout the process, Arm's communication was prompt and informative. They provided clear instructions and were available to answer any questions I had, ensuring I understood each step of the process.
Overall Experience: The interview process was challenging but fair, allowing me to showcase my skills and knowledge. The emphasis on individual creativity and problem-solving skills reflected Arm's innovative culture and their commitment to finding candidates who can contribute unique perspectives. The final interviews were particularly insightful, as they provided a deeper understanding of the role and the team dynamics within ATG.
