I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Aspen Fiber Networks (Houston, TX) in Oct 2025
Interview
I applied for the normal position, it was bumped to the Sr position. JUST DON'T BOTHER... a co-owner, a "Telecommunications Specialist" on LinkedIn came across as someone unaware of how interviews are conducted. It's a two-way street. He failed to mention a senior member of management was also involved, sitting off camera... mentioned him about 90% of the way through. Not exactly showing proper respect to his position, Tried to include humor which came across as more unprofessional than anything. He was unaware of the fact that Cisco overhauled their certifications almost 6 years ago. Showing he's unaware of tech trends. Sent me an interview link using software that wasn't trusted and somehow shocked it wasn't working. He asked me if I had my CCNA, I was working to renew at the time. It did lapse because of my former employer signing me up for other training NOT related to my job and I was studying for it. He was unaware that you can list it if you nearing completion, standard procedure for years. BTW I had R&S, Design and Security + the new one all at once. He didn't even bother to ask me a question to verify knowledge. His next question "We value honesty here at Aspen..." I wanted to shut down the interview right there because it came off as being back handed. Unprofessional humor, not up to speed on a major vendor (Cisco) certification practices that are well established right now. Using broken software to set up an interview with a known working option. Clearly didn't sound like he even cared for his staff, let alone prospective employees. He rushed me when I was fixing to ask a final question. I had to think for a few seconds so I didn't ask something already covered. Who wouldn't? He came off as "my time is more precious than..." The pay offered on the post was better than most jobs posted lately, but skip this company. There's a reason why he's having to hire so for so many spots and still be under 50 employees.
