I applied online. I interviewed at Australian Veterinary Association (Sydney) in July 2023
Interview
Refused to go through with the interview process after I was informed by the hiring person that as part of the interview process, I would need to allocate 2.5 hours for a first interview (online only) in which I would need to complete an unpaid 'marketing task' to evaluate my skill level ? Not sure what these guys were expecting from interviewees. It's not Shark Tank, and no applicant should ever be expected to do 2.5 hours of free work for a company they no nothing about on a first interview. Interesting that the applicant had to jump through hoops BEFORE even getting to actually interview/ talk to the hiring team. Massive red flags here and super disappointing from such an established association. Ps. When I wrote to the hiring person about how disappointed I was that a company of this size was expecting applicants to do unpaid work as part of the interview process, I was told that this was common practice there when hiring. Personally, for me this would indicate a very toxic company culture where employees are made to feel lucky to be working there rather than valued for their skill. If the company expects this of their applicants, they should A) be transparent about it from the start, and B) offer to pay them if they would like them to do a test/ task of skill longer than 15 minutes.

Question 1
I was informed by the hiring person that as part of the interview process, I would need to allocate 2.5 hours on a day that suited them for a first interview (online) in which I would need to complete an unpaid 'marketing task' to evaluate my skill??? To make it even stranger, this secret 'task' would be sent to me only minutes before I would need to start the task (like a blind exam) and only after completion of the task, would I be given an interview with the hiring team, and also for that I would need to prepare answers to a series of fifteen questions that would be sent to me just before the interview started.
