I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Avvo in Nov 2017
Interview
The interview process went pretty smoothly, and I was offered a position at the end of December. However, I was only given a week to decide whether or not to take the offer, even though our school's hiring policy requires at least 2 week consideration time. I turned down two other positions I was still in the process for to take the offer.
Everything went fine until I was offered a position and had my offer taken away due to Avvo's recent acquisition. I just wish that at least, I had gotten a heads up when the acquisition initially happened to start searching for backup positions, but the recruiter continued to email me about the position until I received a call in the middle of February (even though the acquisition happened in January). This created a lot of difficulty for me for the rest of the semester because I had to scramble to find something else.
We deeply apologize for the difficulty that the rescinded offer has caused you. This is an unfortunate situation and certainly not the outcome we had anticipated. At the time of offers, no one making those commitments were aware of the impending acquisition as those were kept extremely confidential.
We notified individuals as soon as we were told these roles would not be needed for the summer. We did need to respond to our current business need and did so as quickly as possible.
