I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BASF in June 2011
Interview
Applied online. Recieved phone interview 2 weeks later. HR rep. asked a lot of behaioral/situational questions. Asked some questions about resume highlights. Scheduled a skills/personality test a week later. The skills portion of the test was a mechanical apptitude test--kind of senseless when the position was a chemical synthesis position so chemistry related questions would have been more appropriate. There was a personality component of the test. The test was administered on a computer and took about 45 minutes to complete.
A couple of days after the test HR called to schedule an interview. It was for 3.5 hours and consisted of speaking to 8 people seperately at 30 minute increments. The processes was very exhausting and a bit excessive considering that 3-4 people would have been sufficent for questions. I did not get the chance to ask questions as for some interviewers as some were late or used all the time to ask me questions. They had 2 technicans in the group I would be working with interview me and I thought they were useless and had no experience in an interview setting.
I applied through university. I interviewed at BASF (Houston, TX) in Jan 2020
Interview
It was alright they went above and beyond and asked about personal interest in my resume and asked how I could optimize processes in the workplace this was a very good interview.

I applied online. I interviewed at BASF in July 2014
Interview
Applied online. Received an email about 3 weeks later about an interview. Interview was with 5 people, 3 PhDs, 1 HR, 1 Lab Tech. I was interviewed by 2 people at a time in 30 minutes intervals. Mostly, was questioned about my previous experience and education. Mostly technical rather than behavioral based questions. Was a lengthy process but well formatted and relaxing environment. I am scheduled for a second interview which is a month after first interview. Thus, no offer yet since I am still in the process. BASF is very thorough in their process. My second interview is with 6 people, I assume the same format as before. Great company to work for and potential for growth.
