I applied online. I interviewed at Beekeeper (Zürich) in June 2019
Interview
3 rounds of phone interviews all done with engineer (never HR people):
First behavioral to see if you fit the culture and the company,
After a coding interview having to implement some simple program and have it run successfully and write some tests if time (doing that on your own IDE to see how familiar/good you are in practical conditions),
Last, a more technical interview on network in general (how http works, how the web works, etc.)
If you pass the 3 of them, you'll be invited for a "test-day" where you'll spend the day at the office working on a special task on some version of the company stack. You will be in direct contact with engineers there to help you understand the stack and ask any question. That last part was what I liked most of the process, better than most companies in-house part. At the end of the day, a presentation of your achievements and future improvement of that solution. That's basically a 6 hours hackathon so I think my experience with those helped.
