Question 1
Tell me what good product marketing looks like and why
Random interview with the founder of this business, he didn't seem to know much about the role I was applying for and asked very broad questions that didn't seem very relevant.
This was, hands down, the worst interview experience of my life. I was reached out for the CoS role via LinkedIn and was genuinely excited at the prospect of working at this company. Right off the bat, I had issues scheduling my initial interview and was treated with slight contempt from the outsourced recruiter helping me. After progressing through the interview process, I completed a "case study" which took me likely ~15 hours. It was an insane ask for ANY job interview - it included a 20 slide powerpoint, 2 excel models, a market research deliverable, and countless hours of outside research on Amazon, reddit, and many other online forums. I have no idea why I did it (looking back). As I progressed through the interview process, they told me how well I was doing and that they were excited to move forward. After countless hours of interviews, I was invited to a meeting called "NAME CoS," where they proceeded to tell me that they were pausing hiring for the CoS role, but not to worry, they were going to offer me a great job instead. This job had absolute nothing in common with the CoS role and the salary was $30k less than what we had agreed upon at multiple points throughout the process. However, I realized the company also reposted the Chief of Staff position on LinkedIn (about two weeks after this occurred), indicating they were also not honest with me. On top of that, a LinkedIn recruiter reached out to me a few weeks later asking me to apply to the exact role I was offered as consolation (and turned down), indicating an utter lack of organization. Overall, my recruiting process with them was unprofessional, and their lack of candidate tracking indicates as such. I am unsurprised in reading about the layoffs and mismanagement at the company now, and feel sorry for anyone who suffered as a result of poor HR.
