This is one of the most bizarre interview experiences I've ever had. The first interview was over the phone directly with the CEO who yes called early and is so awkward and ingenious in her attempts to learn more about you. Felt like talking to a robot and I'm pretty sure at one point she referred to herself in third person. I immediately thought that would be the end of the process but they surprisingly reached out for a second interview which was not scheduled for over a month later. This was a zoom call interview again with the CEO, who again has the same disingenuous energy and proceeded to ask for on the spot social media posts for each platform. While I believe the brand is very successful and you should be expected to have some ideas and vision for what you can bring in the role, an on the spot test from the CEO is not the way to do it. Also if you work in social you know there is more that goes into it than you can come up with on the spot. And this is why a CEO should not be the first interviewer, because they rarely know what goes into each role. This was also an immediate signifier leadership here rules by fear and constantly keeping staff on their toes. As someone who has worked in my career for over a decade, I can spot a toxic leader a mile away. I was a regular supporter of this brand and this whole experience turned me off.
