I applied online. I interviewed at BlackRock in Sept 2016
Interview
Having submitted my application, I was immediately asked to complete a "virtual cover letter." You were asked two questions, and had 90 seconds to prep each and then 90 seconds to record each. I would recommend using the prep time to practice reading out your answer, as opposed to what I did which way just sit there in silence! Also prep answers, but only a rough plan, you don't want it to sound to pre-prepared!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
"Why BlackRock and why this division?" and "Why your chosen academic are?"
HireVue then 3 part superday. All interviews were a mix of technical and behavioral but mostly behavioral and market-based. Interviews were over a 4 hour period and with employees from different offices
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about your internship experience and why it sets you up for this role
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at BlackRock (New York, NY) in June 2026
Interview
The Hirevue questions were all behavioral, no tell me about yourself or why blackrock. Questions were pretty simple. Prepare a financial news story you are following because they will ask you that.
Hireview is preparation and then one time recording, which is from memory 3 minutes long. There was only 3 questions for me and most of it related to the role instead of purely just asking why blackrock or why this role.
