The interview was jsut a first introductory chat to describe the company profile, the project with the open position, the role itself, and ask about skills and salary expectations.
It is a bit annoying that recruiters keep doing this, you spend most of the time more than 30min interview to hear about the position, talk about your experience, and at the end they ask salary expectation and if it is not in their range, they don´t disclosure and simply deny.
If salary expectation is a GO/NO GO, simply start by this point and then go to the describing. Companies should give more transparency about salary at the very beginning
