The process was handled by an external recruitment company and to be fair, during the beginning stages, all went smoothly. It was only until I was invited to Warwick for an in person interview did things go south.
I’m in London and so I booked a hotel the night before the interview to avoid any early morning stress/traffic driving to their offices.
I made it into their office the next morning, was booked in and asked to wait at reception- looking around I got a really weird vibe/energy from everyone and it made me question if this is even somewhere I’d even consider moving my whole life to; it just felt sad and lacked character.
I was then ushered into a room and asked to wait by a member of the admin staff; who was be try pleasant to be fair. I told her id travelled up the night before and she offered me coffee and some other water. She told me that the woman who was meant to be interviewing me was in another meeting.
After about 15 mins from when the interview was actually meant to start, the woman came back in and told me that I won’t be getting interviewed as Karen Phillips (the woman who was meant to be interviewing me) became suddenly sick and she couldn’t conduct the interview.
The member of admin staff was apologetic and then ushered me off site. I then sat in my car thinking about all the time and money I’d spent for nothing then proceeded to drive to a nearby McDs for a breakfast.
After the 5 hour drive back to London I emailed Karen and told her that I hope she recovers and feels better soon…she didn’t even reply.
The recruiter who had set up the meeting seemed like he wasn’t even phased that I had invested all that time and eventually ghosted me.
Overall- it was a massive waste of time having gone through 2 previous rounds of interviews
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Calor Gas (Warwick, West Midlands, England) in Nov 2025
Interview
CV submission
Informal call with 2 managers to discuss the role and informal interview questions
On site competency based interview
I wasn’t offered the role but overall had a good interview experience, with respectful interviewers and I especially like that I was given interview feedback without asking for it.
