      UX Designer Interview

      24 Feb 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Canonical in Sept 2023

      Interview

I was one of the people that got through all the 62774 stages of the interview process and made it all the way to the final feedback. In the end, my rejection email was completely generalized, the standard "we decided to pursue other candidates that better align etc". Considering I gave this company the better part of about 2 months of my life and mental health, took part in 2 standardised assessments, 1 take-home assignment, and no less than 7 interviews, I would have expected to be given the courtesy of some more detailed feedback at the end. I even later asked if I could be considered for the more junior position that they had just opened, since the rejection email did specify going with candidates that had more extensive experience. Turns out that was a template answer as well and I never heard back from them about the more junior position. At this point I had invested so much effort into this process and company, had begun to really see myself working there, had met so many people on the team, that I went ahead and applied again to the more junior position through the official channel. I was sent the essay questions to complete again. I submitted the same answers that got me through last time, since they were the same questions, and I was the same person...After that, I got the same template rejection email (keep in mind that the essay is supposed to be anonymous to reduce bias)...on the essay that had gotten me through to the end of the process just before. Bottom line, I did not appreciate the blatant disregard for people that no longer represent any interest to them. They made 0 effort to at least compansate me for my time and effort with some more detailed feedback.

      Difficult interview

      Application

      Interview

Very long, many many steps, in depth, asking questions from a long time ago in the past, but helps understand the company very very well. Need to speak to engineers, hiring mangers, etc. There's also a take-home task involved

      19 Nov 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Berlin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Canonical (Berlin)

      Interview

Went through 5 rounds of interviews only to be ignored afterwards. Initial calls were good but I was essentially meeting with everyone from the initial and answering the same questions on repeat. Then waas told there would be another 2 stages and a cast study from there. Very long process.
