I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at CarGurus (Cambridge, MA) in Apr 2014
Interview
Applied through recruiter for a backend dev position. Did the phone interview with the VP of engineering, it was pretty standard and easy. Was invited for an in person interview. The office looked nice. There were four 1:1 rounds, approximately 45 minutes to an hour each. First one was on basic java and algorithms, second was focused on concurrency and multithreading in Java, third on web app architecture and scaling, the last one was with the VP and he asked more algorithm questions. Never heard back from them after the interview. The recruiter mentioned they were passing because they thought I did not have enough attention to details. Overall positive experience, about what I expected from a software company.

Question 1
I can't think of a particularly difficult question. One example of a typical question was to design an email job that would deliver high number of emails and will work on a really old and slow hardware.
It was fun and they treated me well. Asked questions about my experience and talked in general about more things as well as the product I would be working on.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself?, How do you approach problems?

Interview
The company recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn with a job opportunity. We scheduled an initial interview. He did not call at the appointed time, nor did he offer any explanation.
This lack of professionalism reflects badly on the company.
I wonder what else they are saving on besides cheap recruiters...
After an on-site interview, they told me they wanted to hire me but didn’t have a job just yet... and strung me along for 3 months before ghosting me after the recruiter (their recruiter) I was working with left the company.

They asked me to design a db schema to support a feature on their website.
