I recently had a telephone interview for this position and accepted the slot promptly after being invited.
However, a little over 24 hours to the interview taking place, I was informed via a generic email that included a ‘sad face’ emoji that the role had already been offered to another candidate and the process was being closed without meeting all scheduled candidates.
While I understand that hiring processes can move quickly, closing the process at this stage created a frustrating and disappointing experience, particularly given the emphasis of the role on delivering a positive and engaging candidate journey.
The experience felt inconsistent with the values the role itself was intended to promote, and for a company keen to want candidates thinking “I want to work there”, this isn’t a great move in that direction.
I applied online. I interviewed at Chilled Pubs in July 2025
Interview
A good interview, relatively relaxed. I was interviewed by the head chef and someone from HR, who both asked thoughtful questions about how I could contribute as a commis in the kitchen.

Question 1
How do you work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments?
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Chilled Pubs (Walton, East Midlands, England) in Feb 2021
Interview
Very chill and simple interview. Asked about availability and my skills/attributes. They were kind as informing of any questions I had. I would recommend this company. However, make sure to properly outline your available as they will stick by what you’ve said.
