If the manager wasn't clear on the process or the questions, did you ask them to explain? We know that interviews can be a stressful situation for some people and we advise candidates to not be afraid to ask for their interviewer to explain or repeat a question. From 2023 we've started to include the questions you will be asked in the interview pack, we believe this supports a more inclusive approach to interviews and will help candidates prepare.
