      Technical Support Engineer Interview

      14 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sydney
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Commvault (Sydney) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Received a random call for a recruiter at Spark and was advised about a technical support for CommVaut at 95K base. I was interested because of the market salary on offer and the recruiter was kind enough to drop the name of the client and salary – if they didn't I would of thought the role was a fake and they were building their resume portfolio database. I sent the recruiter a copy of my resume, and had a Skype interview the next day, she was impressed and CommVault agreed to do a technical phone interview with me which I passed. I was invited for a face to face interview and a more advanced technical testing which I also passed and was asked to meet the VP. Everything was on track for my employment, until CommVault HR got involved, and was asked to comply with their third party provider HireRight on completing a Police Check, Education and Employment check. CommVault jumped the gun and send me the employment contract to sign prior to having these checks completed and wanted me to resign this is big mistake on their behalf – the checks should be completed first once passed then they should proceed with employment. I was asked to hand over personal details including employment start/finish dates contact numbers at all my companies, driver’s license, passport and PAYG information. I passed the police checks however failed the employment and education checks to my mistake of estimating the start/finish dates, CommVault HR asked for clarification on the inconsistencies I explained to HR I didn’t know the exact dates so I guesstimated them. They never responded back to my email and the role went stale and cold. My experience with their HR was intrusive as the position was technical support and not management. The technical people that interviewed me were awesome however I cannot say the same about their HR team. The contract seems over kill as well business operates between 8:30pm-6:30pm you are expected to work 38hrs however seems more like 50hrs per week at market salary seems unfair in retrospect. It was a glorified helpdesk role for their enterprise application support, IE helpdesk monkey.
