I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Compass (New York, NY) in Feb 2018
Interview
The whole interview process was very quick. Although they move fast, they are dedicated to making sure you are well informed about the role and Company values. Each interview felt more like a conversation rather than an interview. They want to know what you are passionate about and what your story is. Compass above all cares about their culture and they are looking for people who not only will align with culture but will help continue to foster their values.
There will be several interviews with people from different areas of the company. Depending on the role, there may be a skills test that is required.
They are pretty accommodating around your availability and may require an in-person interview or video conference calls if you can't make it to the office.
One negative is that because they move fast, there is a higher chance the position you are going for may fill before you finish your interview process. Make sure your personality shines the first time around.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I honestly don't remember the specific questions, but just make sure have stories that answer the questions.
A short two phone interview. Process has clearly changed in two years. I interview with someone in NYC, and then another person in SF. Was offered the job a day later.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Compass (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
The recruiter and agents I interviewed with were all friendly and kind throughout the process. During my phone screen, the recruiter gave very candid advice. They provided feedback and ultimately went with other candidates since they thought I lacked enough presentation experience.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Compass (Beverly Hills, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
Interview consisted of an email interview, a phone interview, and an in person interview with three different Compass employees. The process was fairly simple and straight forward. After each round I advanced in, I was communicated with quickly to let me know about next steps. There was one hiccup where I expected to get an offer and ended up needing to wait a week due to logistics on behalf of the business.

Question 1
The person who would become my direct report asked me why I left my previous job and if I should have spent more time there before departing. This was a great question because it caught me off guard and it forced me to think about and demonstrate my decision making for life decisions bigger than finishing a project or working with a team. Excellent question!
