I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ConglomerateIT in Mar 2024
Interview
I recently interviewed with conglomerate for a Software Engineer role, and overall, the experience was positive. The process was well-structured, consisting of four stages: an initial HR screen, a technical assessment, a coding interview, and a final cultural fit discussion. Communication was clear throughout, and the recruiters were transparent about timelines and expectations. The technical questions were relevant to the role and focused on practical problem-solving rather than obscure algorithms, which I appreciated
Plain just like any job interview anyone gets. Job interviews clearly don’t actually accomplish much of anything. Just the tell me about yourself and all that. The interviewer was fine
The job ad stated $55-60/hr. When the recruiter AK called me, he asked me my pay requirement. I stated $60/hr W-2. He stated that the employer would only pay $55/hr 1099 and asked if I’d work 1099. I said yes, but at a substantially higher hourly rate. He repeated again the limitation and I thanked him for his time and said it wouldn’t work out. A few minutes later, he called and offered $57/hr W-2. I said ok. Then he sent several email messages asking for a lot of personal information and was adamant to get my LinkedIn profile. I did not feel comfortable sending my personal information so I declined to do so. I sent my empty LinkedIn profile. Finally, the recruiter told me they were not be moving forward with me because I do not have experience in the healthcare domain (which was not in the job posting as a requirement and was not communicated to me). I really got the sense that the recruiter was trying to steal my information for an illegal purpose. This company is not reputable.
