      Sales Manager Interview

      2 Feb 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Criteo (Barcelona)

      Interview

First they ask you to do a math test, you can find the questions here on Glassdoor. Easy to pass if you study a bit. Then they ask you to perform a sales pitch. A warning is in order here. If you are going to do this, you should know that it takes A LOT of time to study and prepare a good pitch, you need to be very certain that you fit their requirements before you do the sales pitch, if not you are wasting your time. They only hire very young people, so if you are above, say, 28, DON`T WASTE YOUR TIME INTERVIEWING FOR CRITEO IN BARCELONA. They will not hire you even if you do a great pitch, they want young people to keep salary expenses down. A spent a lot of time studying the product and preparing for the pitch but did not get the job, and I have been doing software sales many years with a good track record. I even walked through my sales pitch with a friend of mine who is a current employee of Criteo in Barcelona, and it turned out that I knew more about the product than him in certain regards. Overall he thought it was a very good pitch - but I still did not get the job because I was over 30. Of course they will not tell you that. HR will obviously say that they have many employees over 30, but when I was in the office I did not se ONE. Seriously. So I was quite pissed of that I spent so much time preparing, and they had decided beforehand to not hire me. SO DON`T WASTE YOUR TIME! Then they did not even call me up afterwards either to let me know what they thought. I knew that they were ashamed of asking me to spend so much time preparing and not offering me the job. But I wanted them to feel bad. So when they did not call me, I asked my friend to tell them that I wanted to know if I was going to get the job (eventhough I had figured out that I would not). So my friend who is currently employed there told HR (a french woman) to call me up, and her voice was cracking and she just said that they had found someone better. To not call someone up after asking them to spend so much time preparing a good sals pitch is very disrespectful. I am writing this as a warning - dont interview if you are above 28, you can spend your time doing something else.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Criteo (Sydney) in Feb 2022

      Interview

3 rounds - 1st was a casual chat, 2nd with HR and 3rd with the Hiring manager. Short interview process in all however not the most organised. The vibe was very dependent on the person you interviewed with so hard to gauge the employer vibe.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Criteo (Barcelona)

      Interview

One call with HR for some explanation and skills review One call with a team lead One video call with two managers The third call was conducted by a new appointed manager that was clearly close minded and was not thinking out of the box for one second, it’s good to train your employees for sales techniques but make sure that they can go a little bit out of their role sometimes and use other techniques and soft skills. Time lost for me as you guys don’t give any news post interview plus really low compensation. No wonder why you have shitty reviews lately in Barcelona if you have such people in your team It’s ok to spam with your fancy videos but clearly does not apply to interviewers.

We’re sorry to hear you didn’t have the optimal candidate experience, and we appreciate you taking the time to give your feedback. This is something we take seriously, and are continuously looking to improve. Part of our development philosophy is to support and upskill team members as they move into management roles especially as they take on greater responsibilities in interviewing, and from past experience we believe having two managers of different experience levels in an interview can give a more balanced perspective. In our interview process we look at assessing core competencies and skills which are a requirement of our roles. We fully agree that in Sales, fresh thinking is important. If you have more specific feedback we’d like to hear from you and have further perspective on your experience, so we can continue to improve. Interview

Very well structured interview process. First there is a call with HR to discuss about your experience and how you would fit in the company. Second interview is a phone call with a team lead for a role play and again assess your skills. Final interview is the continuation of the role play plus some other questions.
