I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at DISCO (Austin, TX) in Jan 2019
Interview
Absolutely the WORST interview experience of my life. Took 6 WEEKS. Took time off of work to talk (on separate days) to the hiring manager, member of his team, COO (who told me he "thinks he can definitely find a place for me here"), and 2 other people who knew nothing about the team or position I was interviewing for. I wouldn't be reporting to them so I'm not sure why I needed to talk to them? The whole process was time consuming and ridiculous, as all interviewers asked the exact same questions (what I did currently, what attracted me to the company, etc). After MULTIPLE conversations over the entirety of 6 weeks, I was told that they "loved me" and the company was "preparing an offer letter". Wrong. After weeks of waiting, the manager informed me that they had another candidate with more experience in the industry who was willing to relocate across the country, and that they wanted to try him out first before they go with someone with less experience. They wanted to put me on hold for a few months while this guy ramps up. After taking multiple days off of work, traveling to FOUR in person interviews only to have been basically promised a spot by the COO, they want to put me on hold? No thank you. It was clear to me the company is VERY disorganized, unstructured, and has no idea what direction to go in when building out their Account Management team that they claim to "have a desperate need for because our client numbers are growing". Beware the promise of a high salary and "free lunches everyday" that every single person I interviewed with focused on way more than they should have (it's just lunch). Absolutely ridiculous process to ask of someone only to keep them waiting for weeks before they propose the idea of waiting on call once a more experienced interviewee ramps up. Do not interview here.
First, I want to apologize and thank you for taking the time to write this review. It sounds like you had a frustrating experience interviewing with us and that is not we want at all. In related news, our startup has just this January added an HR team, which now includes multiple in-house recruiters. I know that may not make a difference to you, but one of our goals is to improve candidate experience and work closely with our hiring teams on setting expectations. Please know that we take your feedback very seriously and multiple members of the Disco team are working to make certain we do better in the future. We hope you will take a chance on us in the future as we would hate to miss out on a great candidate.
