First of all, the person I was dealing with directly at Deliveroo was really great. I was explained what the process would be. The next part was truly awful. The first round is a programming task where you will be on webcam being watched by someone from Karet who will give you a random leetcode task to complete. I have no idea why Deliveroo do this. This is *not* a paring task. It’s another human watching you type and try to figure out a very difficult task when being put on the spot. There isn’t much conversion allowed between you and the interviewer, so it’s just them scrutinising every key press you make. It’s quite frankly grim. The task isn’t straightforward either. This is simply not the way to get the best out of developers. It is also testing one particular skill: can you solve a complex algorithm whilst being watched by someone in an anxiety inducing scenario. Deliveroo don’t even conduct this interview themselves - they just send it out to this third party, Karet.

Graduate so slightly different (easier) process with a recruiter call, one technical screen and one full loop (behavioural and technical). Technicals were all Leetcode medium problems with no system design.
