Challenging application process, still hoping to try again soon! I’ve applied twice for a novel translator role, and I have to say the application process is not easy. Both times I reached the translation test stage but didn’t pass, so I didn’t get to move forward to any interviews. The test is quite challenging, and the expectations seem high, which I can understand for a translation-focused position.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Digital Trans in Nov 2025
Interview
The interviewer has this condescending tone when they're talking. No Hi, No introduce themselves, nothing. They seem so disinterested since the beginning of the interview. Just straight to the point.
Despite that I successfully passed the written test, I need to verbally translate the long text on the spot without reading it first to test proficiency. Which is weird because as translator you need to understand the context first and localized the terms according to the target language for better accuracy. Never have I ever encountered this kind of test.

Interview
Quite curious are they hiring translator or interpreter. Even after you passed the written test, you will be asked for another interview session, requesting you to translate a paragraph on the spot.
