I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DigitalOcean (New York, NY) in Oct 2023
Interview
Had great chats with a recruitment director, a hiring manager, and 3 team members. After 5 rounds of interviews, there was no news as to any potential offer or even rejection. I had to research myself through LinkedIn that they outsourced the job to somebody in India. Decent interview process itself, but terrible lack of communication.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at DigitalOcean in Sept 2021
Interview
The entire interview process was consisted of three parts - recruiter first, one-on-one with hiring manager in second and the panel interviews with the hiring group as final-round at last. It took them four full months before concluding the results of the interview, which was different than the recruiter promised before that they would provide results after 3 to 5 business days (likes Amazon) after the final-round panel interview.
Throughout the interview process, I was not asked for any technical-based questions about IT governance, risks or controls. All questions were behavioral questions and the members of hiring group in the panel interviews are relatively young in terms of years of experience in IT governance, risks and controls as they (including the hiring manager) all came from background of one of the well-known consulting firms and/or law firm. I was told by the recruiter and the hiring manager that this opening position is more customer-focused and gaining customer's trust.
Similar to other job candidates who interviewed for technical position and commented here, I didn't hear back on anything within the time range (3-5 business days) promised by the recruiter, for a week, then two, then three. I also contacted the recruiter weekly to try to get a response. After three weeks, I finally got a vague email saying they "the team decided to move forward with someone else that they feel best fits the team's current needs" although the company is still advertising this opening position on its website and other social media.
Noteworthy that one of the members in hiring team was so proud of comparing their company with Amazon during the interview. Unfortunately, DigitalOcean has different customer segment and services when versus Amazon, if anyone simply researched about that matter. Additionally, with such interview process and candidates' experience, it was far behind with Amazon in terms of the transparency and efficiency.
