Manager showed up 30 minutes late and I had to ask a member of staff about the wait. When the manager got there, they asked if I was late and I told them I was sat in one place the whole time and he was the one late. Interview went good I felt but was definitely shorter than they said. They ended up rejecting me a couple days later and I can’t see why. Don’t recommend applying.
Went in and had to wait for the interviewer. When they did show up they told me I'd just been lumped in with the school leavers ( I'm clearly an adult by cv alone) and put on a seasonal till role interview despite applying for stock. Was then told the stock role is different to the one described anyway. They asked my age which didn't seem needed as I'm clearly over 18. I then had to answer customer service questions which I don't have recent experience in and had only prepped basic responses to. Shifts for this new role were also totally different to the ones I applied for.
Waste of time all round. Only pleasant suprise was that I got a rejection when I was told I wouldn't hear back if not selected. If I wasnt on UC and needing to prove I am job hunting I would have walked out.
A massive waste of time. I knew the customer service role wouldn't be suited to my disabilities.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your thoughts and feedback and we'll pass this onto our teams to help improve the process in the future.
I applied online. I interviewed at Dunelm (Carmarthen, Wales) in July 2025
Interview
Really underprepared, they didn’t know who had interviews and didn’t have anyone’s CV or even look at them. They said HR hadn’t sent anything over which was annoying and they like to look at each candidate before hand. Me and the manager just talked, nothing really relating to my skills or the job in general. They didn’t ask questions and it was really informal when they wanted it to be formal, I feel like my age and the fact that they didn’t really get to know me was a huge part in why I didn’t get the job.
