In my career research process, I was contacted by a current employee who suggested that I would be a great fit for the company. It seemed like he had some authority in the hiring process and brought in another employee on the phone to assess my qualifications. I spoke with him on the phone for about an hour and 40 minutes. It seemed that there was some urgency to get a cover letter and resume to them. After following up, it turns out that he did not have any authority in the process. HR told me that they were not hiring sales people.
