      Project Coordinator Interview

      11 Jan 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at EarthOptics in Jan 2025

      Interview

Interview process was pretty standard at first- screening call from HR/P&C/Recruiter for an overview of the position, questions to make sure I'm a good fit for the position, etc. This part was actually quite pleasant and was an incredibly great start to the process and definitely set the tone for a positive experience. The questions gave me opportunities to explain how my previous roles gave me a solid skillset that would fit the PC role well. The recruiter was also very curious about certain aspects of my work history leading to an awesome back and forth exchange. The next step was an assessment which was essentially an IQ test. I had never done one before, assumed I did well because I made it to the second interview, but it definitely rattles you a bit. 15 minute timed consisting of math and pattern questions. The second interview was where the train ran off the track. Although the person I interviewed with was nice, it became very obvious that they were not only new to the management position, but they were also incredibly new to interviewing. The first three questions were repetitive: tell me about yourself, tell me about your work experience, tell me why you feel you would be a good fit for the position, etc. While kindly detailing my applicable work history and skills as quickly and as concisely as possible each time to answer as well as market myself, it became apparent that they were very distracted and disinterested. It was disheartening but if the interviewer is not curious about the candidate and only insists on checking boxes, it is what it is.

      Interview

Clear communication from lead recruiter. Calendar invites to interview stages (and selecting the time/date) were easy to follow. I think the questions I was asked at each stage, by each interviewer were fair and sensible given the stage I was in.

      Question 1

How do you approach joining an existing team? What methods, qualities, and experiences do you bring with you as you get to know new colleagues?

      Interview

Went through multiple interviews for the role and was never told I was no longer being considered. The lack of communication was disheartening. It seems like a great company to work for with an awesome mission. I would just recommend letting candidates know if they aren’t in the running anymore.

Tell me about a time where you managed a project. What was the outcome

Hi there - firstly, thanks for taking the time to interview with EarthOptics, as well as to write this review. Although we dropped the ball, we wanted to let you know that we value your time and consideration, as well as your feedback. We're sorry for leaving you in the dark and making you feel discouraged, disappointed, and undervalued. It's never our intention to ghost anyone, especially those that have invested their time, effort, and energy into interviewing with us. We hope that you can accept our apologies. In full transparency, we are an extremely lean team (of humans) and while managing a very high-volume of candidates for the opportunity, we made a mistake. We recognize that this is not an excuse, rather, additional context we wanted to share along with our apologies. All that said, sorry and thank you again for your time. We hope that if ever given the opportunity again, we can make it right by providing a better candidate experience.
