      Branch Office Administrator Interview

      9 Oct 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2025

      Interview

I've been through six interviews that went through various stages of the interview process. Sometimes they make you take an automated video interview, sometimes not. Then there is a 30 minute interview which is face to face or digitally. Then there's up to a month of waiting before they'll have you come in to meet other members of their branch. Here's what I discovered: On the surface, the people I interviewed with were nice. However, they were terrible with communication. No single office asks the same questions, and in some cases, I was asked a barrage of questioning that was aimed at discouraging me from the position. I had one person said I had a mark against me simply because I originated from Iowa. I had another make fun of my prior work experience. I had one agent ask a lot of questions surrounding my medical history. In three separate occasions, I was told that I was the top candidate, that I should be working for the company, that they wanted to move me on to the next interview stage, but then received a generic rejection email a week later with no explanation as to why when they had previously been so enthusiastic. I was called in for a "meet the team" meeting, but when I arrived one of the team members couldn't make it due to a client emergency and the first thing that I was asked when I got there was "Do you have any questions?" as if they had no agenda for the meeting. I had driven a full hour to get there and for them not to have any agenda for that meeting or direct purpose came across as not respecting my time. I had one 30-minute interview turn into a 1 hour and 45-minute interview with 1 hour of it being the senior financial advisor trying to encourage me not to take the role. If the individual didn't want me to take the job, he shouldn't have called me in to begin with. To summarize: -They ask about your medical history. -They don't respect your time. -They lie to you about wanting to move you on to the next stage. -They have no standard for interview questions. -They have poor communication. If you're looking for an admin role with a great company, my recommendations are to look elsewhere. If this is how they treat their interviewees, imagine how they treat their customers.

      Question 1

How long are you planning to mask? How has covid affected you? Does the thought of handing out candy to hundreds of children scare you? Are you sure you want this role?

      Interview

Lengthy and involved, with video responses, pretests and more. I wish I hadn't wasted my time because the last questions told volumes about the agent's ability to be fair/equal opportunity.

      Question 1

Was I aware the industry was dominated by women and would I mind that I might be the only man in the room at regional functions? Hmmm.

      Interview

Very drawn out process, over a month. I have interviewed a couple of times. The first time I was never even in contact with the recruiter as I had only gotten the automated emails for each step. It was difficult to find her email when I had a question, which she never responded to. The next recruiter I had was more engaged but it took about 4-5 weeks after the last interview with several emails that were essentially "thanks for being patient we are still deciding" to get a rejection email on a saturday
