      Financial Advisor Interview

      24 June 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Seneca, SC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Seneca, SC) in Apr 2016

      Interview

I sent in my resume in June of 2015 and was called back immediately to discuss the opportunity. I informed the recruiter that I was looking to relocate but didn't have a time-frame in mind, and she invited me to a dinner that included a panel of advisors to answer questions in July. They followed-up for several months until I agreed to meet with a local FA, who encouraged me to go through the interview process to get my "yes or no" out of the way, and I agreed to move forward. I had my first phone interview on 4/15, followed by my face-to-face interview on 5/10. There was a bit of a delay in this step because candidates are supposed to interview with their local region, and since I was looking to relocate, they had to decide how to handle this. They decided to allow me to interview locally (didn't require me to travel to the relocation region). My business plan was due on 5/19, my final phone interview on 5/25, and my day-in-the-life assessment was scheduled 6/6. The final phone interview was my most difficult hurdle because the recruiter was really limiting my responses to my current role... a role that really has no goals, teamwork, etc... I was told that 80% of candidates are weeded out by the first phone interview, and for those that pass, the most weight is put on the day-in-the-life assessment. I was told that if you make it to the day-in-the-life, 2/3 will pass and 1/3 will fail, and it's scored as strong, satisfactory, or unsatisfactory. I had a "strong" score.

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Edward Jones

      Interview

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

      11 Feb 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vancouver, WA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Vancouver, WA)

      Interview

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.
