I applied online. I interviewed at Enviral (Bristol, England) in July 2022
Interview
I submitted an application on 13th June and was subsequently asked to interview. However, I had to chase the hiring team for a response as to whether I was being taken forward for interview - initially they said they'd get back to me in a week and after two weeks I chased up asking whether I was being considered. I was then told yes, and invited for interview. I attended the interview and following this, I sent through some examples of my work which I took the time to prepare as they had requested it during the interview. I then did not receive any acknowledgement or response as to whether I had been successful in interview. Two weeks later, I chased for a response, as since I hadn't heard, I had assumed I was not successful but thought it would be good to know either way. I was then told that they were still reviewing candidates and that I was still being considered for the role. this was on 19th July. On 10th August I then saw several marketing campaigns on social media re-advertising the role I was supposedly still being considered for - which surprised me, and was quite confusing, so I emailed again to see what was going on. I was told: "We are on a recruitment drive at the moment and reviewing various applications for various roles. At the moment we are prioritising hiring creatives first but we are interested in having further discussions and giving you a task. However, we won't be able to do this for a couple of weeks due to some of the team being on holiday. " - I felt this was misleading having applied and been interviewed for a specific role so I felt they had wasted my time. I replied explaining: "I had understood that the first call was an initial interview with a view to a second/final one, rather than it being part of a wider company recruitment drive - so I that's why I was expecting to hear back a bit sooner. " I then waited to hear back from them regarding my message, and didn't hear anything for almost two weeks - so I emailed again on 22nd August, chasing up. No response. I then emailed a month later on 22nd September following up about having been offered a second task/interview but re-epplaining that no date was confirmed and I never received any task/details. I was then told "This role is now on pause" with no explanation as to why I had not been told what was going on. Overall this is by far the worst recruitment experience I have ever had. Zero proactive communication from a communications agency? Go figure! I was disappointed because I felt I could have made a real impact in the role and had a lot of relevant experience to share. Really disappointed and left feeling very confused, despite having proactively tried to get to the bottom of why their communication was so poor.

Question 1
This was a first-stage interview and so it was more of a general chat about my experience.
