I applied for a role and was contacted by HR a month later, who first asked me to clarify my expectations regarding the package, without much room for negotiation, before even starting the interview process. I then had an interview with the manager and a team member, which went very well. After that, I received no response, despite sending two follow-up messages. Eventually, more than a month later, I only received an automated rejection email.
Such a lack of communication and follow-up comes across as unprofessional: even a personalized email or ideally a phone call would have been a minimum courtesy towards candidates.
